Gilmar Ruiz
Gilmar Ruiz has worked in construction and remodeling for more than 35 years. He has built entire homes, completed full kitchen and bathroom remodels, painted whole interiors, and built decks from start to finish. He knows how a home is built from the ground up, which means he knows what to look for, what to avoid, and how to make it right.
GR Improvements is his company. Not a franchise, not a managed operation. His name is on every project. He intends for every result to reflect that.

His Story
A Life Spent Building
Construction was not a career Gilmar happened into. He was drawn to it. There is something about building with your hands, about solving problems that require both deep knowledge and patience, that kept pulling him forward through every stage of his working life.
Over more than three decades, he worked across nearly every residential trade. Framing. Drywall. Painting. Plumbing. Electrical. Finish work. Landscaping. That range of experience matters in ways that are not always obvious. A contractor who has only ever done one trade understands a home differently than someone who has built, wired, plumbed, and finished one. Gilmar has done all of it, and that understanding shapes how he approaches every project he takes on.
After years working for others in the industry, he saw how quickly quality slips when nobody in charge is closely watching the work. He made a decision. He would build his own company, one where every project would be held to his standard, not someone else's minimum requirement.
It's why GR Improvements exists. Not to become the largest contractor in the area. To be the one homeowners trust to do the job correctly, the first time.

There is a right way to do most things in construction. It usually takes more care and more time than the shortcut. We have never been interested in the shortcut. It tends to show up later, and someone always pays for it.

Every family lives differently. Every home has its own character and its own needs. The goal on any project is to serve what the homeowner has been imagining, not to impose a contractor's preference or push toward whatever is simplest to build.

Work behind walls reveals surprises. What separates contractors is what they do when something unexpected turns up. We find it, communicate it clearly, and solve it correctly. Covering a problem over is not an option we consider.

Every estimate is written, itemized, and reviewed with you before a single day of work begins. If there is something you want to adjust, we work through it together. Nothing starts until you understand and agree to every part of the plan.

You hear from us throughout the project, not just at the beginning and end. If something comes up during the work, you know about it right away. If anything needs to change, that is your decision to make, not ours. You are never left wondering what is happening in your own home.

We protect the areas around the work zone, keep the site organized, and clean up at the end of each day. You live in this home. We are guests in it, and we work with that in mind from the first morning to the final walkthrough.
